On 14th April 1912, it wasn't only Jack and Rose's love story which ended in the Atlantic Ocean. It was hundreds of dreams, thousands of smiles, and relationships that ended. We're all familiar with the story of the mighty unsinkable biggest moving vessel of its time; TITANIC.
Even after more than a hundred years we still feel the loss, personal loss, even when we had nothing really to do with it but still, it feels awful.
Imagine holding an ice cube for a while... Now imagine being surrounded by ice cubes in iced water. Yeah, I know it sounds absurd but that's how they all, more than fifteen hundred pure souls died. Imagine the searing pain, the pain of separation, the pain of iced cold water, the pain of children drowning... God the night was disastrous!
Even after so many years of this dreadful incident why do we still feel bad for them? Because of the Oscar-winning movie? Because of Jack and Rose's two days love story? No, we feel bad because the tragedy wasn't because of a natural cause. The total cause of the sinking was overconfidence and carelessness.
If only they'd put enough lifeboats for security purposes rather than putting an extra fourth funnel for the aesthetic purpose, those hundreds of lives could have been saved. If only the captain maintained a usual speed, if only he took the warnings seriously, if only the rich had humanity, many newborns, many newly wedded couples, many dreams, many JACK DAWSONS could thrive.
Also, those who saw the wreck from the lifeboats must have had countless sleepless nights. After hearing all those dreadful screams what sort of music did they hear to soothe their ears? Probably they heard enough music for the rest of their lives as the musicians played their hearts out on the sinking unsinkable.
Remains of Titanic still stay in the heart of Atlantic to shatter the overconfidence and carelessness of the human race. The screams of Titanic still stay in the Atlantic forever as a warning to us.
A part of my heart still prays for those innocents. A part of my heart still cries for those beautiful souls. This tragedy will never be forgotten. This tragedy SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED!
